Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Accept Insurance?

I do not accept insurance, but I can help you navigate this so it doesn’t stop you from getting the help you need.

Therapy is maintenance for our mental health and overall wellness the same as other de-stigmatized methods of self-care, like going to the gym, routine doctor’s visits, and
taking vacations.

I recognize that therapy is an investment, and I believe it is a worthwhile one.

Here are the steps you can take to see if your insurance has any out-of-network mental health benefits.

  1. Call the support number on the back of your insurance card and ask if they will accept a “Superbill” for out-of-network mental health services.

  2. If they do, find out where to send the paperwork

How this works: You will pay my session fee after each session. At the end of the month, you will receive a “superbill” with all the information you need to send to your insurance for reimbursement. You will send this in along with any additional paperwork they require from you, and your insurance company will then reimburse you the amount that is agreed upon based on your plan.

What Is The Investment?

50 Min Standard Session $200

Why Don’t You Take Insurance?

Therapy is a deeply personal service, while insurance can help pay for counseling, the insurance companies also have restrictions. An insurance company can dictate session length, how many sessions are allowed, the type of therapy the clinician provides, and which clinicians you can or cannot see.

As a therapist who is working to de-stigmatize and de-colonize the therapeutic process, I choose for my practice to not participate in this system.

I do recognize the benefit of insurance and am happy to connect people to local providers who accept insurance if needed.
